What’s a Schnitzel Baguette? Boca Raton’s Most Underrated Sandwich, Explained

WHAT’S A SCHNITZEL BAGUETTE? BOCA RATON’S MOST UNDERRATED SANDWICH, EXPLAINED

If you grew up eating schnitzel, you don’t need this article. You already know. Skip to the order link.

If you didn’t — if “schnitzel” is just a word you’ve heard or seen on a menu — this is for you. Because the schnitzel baguette at Krispy’s is one of the most underrated sandwiches in Boca Raton, and the only reason more people aren’t ordering it is that they don’t know what it is.

WHAT IS SCHNITZEL?

Schnitzel is a thin cutlet of meat — traditionally veal or pork in Austria and Germany, but in Jewish and Israeli cooking, almost always chicken. You take a chicken breast, pound it flat, season it, bread it, and pan-fry or deep-fry it until the outside is golden and crispy and the inside is still tender.

That’s it. That’s schnitzel. Simple. Done well, it’s one of the best things you can put in a sandwich.

If you’ve ever had a really good chicken cutlet sub — same family. Schnitzel is just the more flavorful, more carefully made cousin.

WHY THE BAGUETTE MATTERS

Most sandwich places put schnitzel in a regular roll. It works, but it’s a missed opportunity. The baguette changes everything.

Our 10-inch baguette is wide, crusty on the outside, soft on the inside. It can hold a full schnitzel cutlet without falling apart, and the crust gives every bite a little extra crunch. The schnitzel is crispy, the bread is crispy, but the inside of the sandwich is soft and warm and saucy.

That contrast is the whole point.

WHAT GOES ON IT

You build your schnitzel baguette the way you want it. Standard moves:

– Lettuce, tomato, pickle, a sauce of your choosing

– Or go bigger — additional toppings, additional sauces, even additional proteins (yes, you can stack)

– Mexican-style with our Mexican sauce

– Italian-style with Italian seasoning baked into the schnitzel

We have a few schnitzel variations on the menu — original, dark meat (deeper flavor), Mexican, Italian. Pick your fighter.

WHY IT’S UNDERRATED IN BOCA

Boca has plenty of sandwich spots. Subs, hoagies, melts, smashes, paninis. But proper schnitzel sandwiches? Not many. And kosher schnitzel done right — even fewer.

Most non-Jewish customers in Boca have never tried it. They walk in for a smash burger or pastrami, see “schnitzel baguette” on the menu, and skip it because they don’t recognize the word.

Their loss, until someone tells them. This article is us telling you.
